Dave Wells Properties has been granted planning permission to convert its old Windham Road offices into two houses and a flat.
Bournemouth Borough Council approved the application stating: “The proposed development would safeguard the character and appearance of the area and the amenities of neighbouring residents and would provide a good standard of residential accommodation for its future residents.”
Plans to convert the site follow Dave Wells Properties’ recent move to purpose-built 18,000 square foot offices in neighbouring St Clements Road.
Dave said: “Our former Windham Road offices were home to our family businesses for 35 years so redeveloping it is a big step. We’re delighted to be bringing new homes to the street and plan to maintain the building’s original Victorian design.”
The warehouse attached to the property will be demolished to give garden space for the homes and the existing Victorian building will be converted into two one-bedroom houses and a two-bedroom flat.
As part of the work Dave Wells will make a contribution towards local transport infrastructure, recreation facilities and heathland protection.
Dave Wells Properties houses over 2,400 tenants in Dorset and Hampshire and has over 160 affordable units currently under construction.
The new, larger offices in St Clement’s Road have more payment points and interview rooms to cope with the volume of tenants and a bigger warehouse for furniture storage.
